[ He sets a couple of the mattresses up, and is in the process of tying another sheet up to the opposite bunk (he doesn't even need to climb) when she asks the question. He's silent for a moment, pondering as he finishes the knot. ]

Trauma...? Do you think this counts as trauma?

Of course it is!

[honestly, twin, honestly. Also stop with your height, jeeze.

She just hops down from her perch when it's tied, landing on a mattress and bouncing there for a moment with a giggle.]

Losing the most important person in the world to you is hard! Even if they did just go home and are safe from all of these experiments and awful things and Dr. Kite!

So--trauma!

[ He drapes the sheets into something more orderly, working as he talks and taking his sweet time about it. ]

Trauma would be... knowing I wouldn't be able to see her again, or seeing her in pain. Or knowing that Kite has her, and being unable to reach her... so I don't know if I have the right to call this trauma. Because I know she's all right somewhere!

... But... [ He tilts his head at a sheet as he smooths it down. ] But I guess I am sad, aren't I? I shouldn't be when I know I'll see her safe and sound again one day... and she's so much better off at home, but I...

[ He stops and closes his eyes, his smile becoming difficult. His voice wavers. ]

I... I still miss her. It's only been half an hour and I still already... ha ha, isn't that pathetic? Lucina and Father Chrom are gone too, and Brady and Gerome, but more than anyone, I wish...

[ He stops, because he shouldn't wish anyone here, let alone his mother. It's unbearably selfish, and yet... He blinks the tears away, and they begin to roll down his cheeks. ]

That's what she said. But she just moves closer as soon as his voice wavers, and reaches for him immediately. She knows this sort of feeling. She was down in the dumps for quite awhile (at least until she almost died) due to her father disappearing.

So really, she just wants to hug him, and tell him what she wished someone would have told her.]

It's okay, Morgan...! Well, I mean, it's really not okay at all. But now...you have so much time to get so amazing that Mother Robin will have to be impressed with you!

Think of how proud she'll be, when she sees you again.

[Think of how proud Father will be, when he sees her again.]

[ He reaches back, not bothering to smile now, and buries his face into her shoulder. He was very lucky to have his mother for so long, he knows, especially when the other Robin has been so long gone. And he'd loved her and tried to spend time with her every day, but it still feels like he took her for granted, like he was even luckier than he knew. Because now she's gone, and he has no more time to spend with her.

That'll change someday -- he'll see her again, has to see her again, in the future near or far, and as Morgan says, he'll have to make her proud. But it's hard to remember now when this room is so quiet and its contents so bare. There's Morgan, though, and of course she understands exactly how he feels. No one else could know better -- and as she hugs him with perfect knowledge, it's sad for him to realize that she's already been through all this. He thought it must be painful for her, but he had no clue just how much. No clue at all. ]

... I'm so sorry.

[And she leans up on her tiptoes, pressing her hand to the back of his head gently, burying her fingers in his hair. It's fine, she thinks, if he wants to remain like this. It's fine, because she'll keep him close for as long as he needs her to. Because if there's anything she understands, it's this.

Missing her father is a constant ache, but it's one she's come to accept. A hole in her heart that she can't fill, but also that won't kill her. And something that she will work on, a goal, a dream to strive for, is improving until she can one day really make him proud. Because she'll see him again.

Morgan will see his mother again.

Anything less is just unacceptable. So she holds him close and she sighs, but even if the smile is gone for him, hers is still there, bitter but firm.]

I'm sorry too...

[...so sorry it hurts.]

...You'll see her again. All right? [He will. She doesn't know how. Or when. Or what it will take.

But he will see her again.]

... Mm-hm.

[ It's half a whimper into her robe, and he feels a bit like a childish. But it's easier to believe her than his own thoughts alone, even if they're supposed to be the same person, and even if she knows no better than he. He sniffles and lets himself relax into her hug, calming bit by bit. ]

Both of us will... right?

[There are a lot of answers that could be given to that question. No--maybe--probably not. It's unlikely. Who knows where their parents are now.

(Morgan doesn't think the answer is "home" anymore.)

... But really, there's only one answer she can give her poor twin now. After all...it's not fair, otherwise. She smiles, and practices Empty Headed Bliss, and holds her twin in the closest hug she can manage.]

We will! We'll see them again as soon as we beat this place, and then they'll be so proud of us...!

[Maybe she would never leave this place and see her father again...but at some point, the best she could do was pretend.]

... Mm.

[ It's nice to hear, even if beating Yao is a gulf of a goal made oppressively wide without a Robin to guide them. But he'll see his mother again... and she'll see her father again. Whatever it takes. To think otherwise is unthinkable.

So... he won't think about it! ]

We'll grow so strong, they won't even recognize us! Won't they be surprised, ha...

[ He stays in her embrace for a little longer, holding on just as tightly, before wiping his eyes on his sleeve and stepping back with a small smile. ]

Anyway, we have a fort to finish. And we can call Noire over so she can see it too!

[ Because... blanket fort. ]

[They're professional pretenders at this point--sweeping things they don't want to think about under the rug as if that resolves the problem. But when he steps back, she does too, offering him the brightest smile she can manage.

Don't think about how much you miss them.

Blanket forts are definitely what's important right now.]

That's right! Let's get to it, so Noire can be suuuuper impressed by our fort building skills!

[She skips over to one of the other blankets, inspecting what they have so far.]

Hmm... we need an entrance!

Of course! We could move these cabinets over here, turn them around so you can still get at 'em... and tie these blankets kind of like this...

[ And just like that, Morgan coping mechanisms. After a bit of work, something resembling walls and an entrance begin to form up. Still, he rubs his chin thoughtfully and looks up. ]

You know, I bet we could hook a blanket up to the ceiling if we wanted to.

[ Make the roof EVEN TALLER, why not. ]

[...... uwaaaahhhh. She looks starry-eyed at that.]

Let's do it! Let's definitely do it! I want this to be the biggest blanket fort ever!

[sparkle sparkle.]

Oooh, and if we tie the blankets this way here, we can have a secret emergency exit to the window...

Ooh, good idea. And if we find some sturdy string and a couple of reels, I bet we could rig the entrance for remote opening...

[ This will be the most objectively awesome blanket fort in Haven history.

AND SO THE FORT WAS BUILT.

By the time they call Noire over, it is a glorious structure. High top, retractable entrance, emergency exit, defensible walls, lush and spacious interior, and other cozy features. It is the Rolls Royce of blanket forts. ]

[ And Noire is actually coming to a halt at the very beginning of it, wondering what happened here. ]

... Is it safe to enter?

[And Morgan is just peeking her head out through the TOTALLY COOL CAMOUFLAGED DOOR.]

Noire...!

Of course it's safe! [...] We haven't installed any traps yet.

[Obviously.]

[ Second Morgan's head appears Scooby-style above hers. IT'S NOIRE. ]

Thinking up non-lethal traps is a little trickier. But come in! You're getting the world premiere.

It was pretty fast, honestly, with Morgan's help! He's like having a ladder with hands and a cheerful grin!

That sounds a little eerie, actually. But she's right! A little bit of teamwork goes a long way. What do you think?

[ Yeah, she'll approve. ]

[Now that they're all inside, Morgan just flops onto one of the mattresses on the floor.]

I mean, since it's empty in here now...we might as well make it into the best blanket fort ever!

[ So... empty... it's still too early for there to be no pang at all, but aggressively roadkilling negative feelings is a special Morgan talent. He drops his butt onto a mattress as well and crosses his legs, getting comfy. ]

Perfect for long non-sleepovers and emergency meetings. The latter of which this is! And the former of which this may end up being. So let's talk.

An emergency? [ Well now she's definitely alert, as she sinks down, folding her legs neatly underneath her. ] I know Robin's disappeared--

[And her smile fades, but only a little bit, even as she leans back against a pillow, wrapping her arms around her legs thoughtfully.]

So...we're the only ones left now, aren't we?
