He sits up fully and finagles her/lets her flop until her head is on his lap, then begins to fan her with a sleeve. ]

Do you need a healer? Should I call Brady?

N-no... [ she groans softly, bringing up a hand to her forehead. ] I'll be fine, really. It's just a fever.

... When did I lie down?

[ hi, Morgan's lap?? ]

[ girl, you are so out of it... ]

Just rest for a moment, all right?

I'm... not doing anything strenuous... [ but she stays where she is, lowering her hand back to her side. Funny, how comfortable this is. ]

Mm. And let's keep it that way. Which means I'm taking care of you today! No apologies or fretting allowed.

He stops abruptly and looks at their hands, then down at her, like a dog poked in the side.

[ Well, that worked marvelously!

... Except Noire doesn't really know what comes after Step One. She's stuck holding his hand as she ponders. What to do, what to say... ]

You should save your energy for if things get worse for everyone... they probably will.

... You're right, of course. Spoken like a true veteran...

[ Especially if they could be facing something akin to starvation soon. Still. Still... He sighs and fumbles for a more mutual hand-holding arrangement. ]

You'll tell me if you do need anything, right?

I will. [ And she smiles, giving his hand a brief squeeze. ] You'd worry otherwise.

Good.

[ He softens and raises her hand to his cheek, leaning into it and basking in its bareness. He can be a pillow and conserve energy -- no problem with Noire here -- but complete idleness is a tougher demand, and she's the only thing around to occupy himself with now. ]

[ She's known Morgan long enough to additionally know about his attention span, but she'll allow herself a moment to just soak in another person's warmth, even though it's just through her palm. It's funny, how different it feels without gloves. ]

I'm afraid I won't be very interesting for the time being... so don't feel obligated to stay for too long.

Oh, I don't know. I haven't lost interest in you yet! This couch is pretty darn comfy, too. You'll have to try a little harder to be rid of me.

[ No emergencies to hurry them along or tasks to attend to... it's very comfy here indeed. Good couch. ]

I... don't really want to. [ even though she knows she should technically shoo him off, that he could also get sick. But she's never liked being alone, and Morgan's even more of a comforting presence these days. ] I like... being with you.

[ That gets a pleased flush out of him. It doesn't feel like he'll ever get tired of her little admissions; even if the words themselves aren't a surprise now, they come from someplace heartfelt, a little corner reserved only for him. ]

And I like being with you! So it looks like we're in agreement.

Hopefully next time... [ she sighs, fingers curving a little more against his cheek. ] It won't be because of bad dreams.

[ He closes his eyes and lets his hand fall away, giving her free reign. ]

Anytime, Noire. Good dreams or bad, in sound health or illness. I'll take as much of you as I can get.

[ That makes her giggle, even as her hand moves a little more, taking in the warmth and surprising smoothness of his skin as her fingers ease down. ] I thought I already said all of me is yours.

[ A completely stress-free life and prodigious sleeping habits make for a good complexion?! He chuckles. ]

I guess I'm still trying to get it through my skull. All is a lot to give someone! And... it almost feels too good to be true.

I'm the one who should be saying that... [ it's kind of wearying to keep her arm up, as much as she likes the feeling when she's not too embarrassed to enjoy it. She lowers her hand slowly, breathing out even more so. ] I didn't think anyone would ever feel that way about me, and here you are...

[ He's a little disappointed when her touch leaves him, but ah well. He makes up for it by pushing a stray strand of hair or two from her forehead, then letting his hand slip the short distance into her hair. ]

Ha ha. If it weren't such a threat to my position, I'd have half a mind to survey all your friends and acquaintances on how dateable you are just to prove you wrong!

[ Just having his hand there feels incredibly nice, even as Noire peers at him to make sure he isn't being serious at all. He's laughing, so that's promising. But just to make sure... ]
