[ Noire's subsequent yelp is more startled than dismayed, even though she's latching on fairly quickly to his neck. ]

I didn't mean you had to carry me! I can walk just fine!

Heh. [ A kiss on the cheek for her trouble, and he resumes the journey to her room. ] I know. You can walk with the best of them!

[ Hold as he turns sideways and crabwalks them through the door... romantic. ]

[ So very romantic. ]

And it's your birthday... [ with an embarrassed mumble. ] I'm supposed to be spoiling you.

[ HE'S READY. ]

WELL OKAY THEN. He's probably still ready, even if she looks unexpectedly serious about this. He sits on the bed, which leaves her snug on his lap. ]

You've been planning?

Well, I don't have an elaborate plan, so nothing impressive... [ rueful, as she shakes her head and remains settled on his lap. ]

But I'll do my best to make sure you enjoy it.

[ When doesn't he enjoy her? And cuddling probably isn't meant to be too elaborate anyway, so it all works out. ]

Sounds good to me. Where should we start?

With you relaxing?

[ and she'll arrange herself to nuzzle under his chin, encouraging him to tilt his head back. ]

[ He hums and obliges, nuzzling back gently in return. And indeed he'll try to relax, hands resting lightly on her hip and thigh. ]

Yes, ma'am.

Good.

[ And she'll reward him with a slow, lingering kiss. ]

[ An agreeable reward!! He sinks into it, world narrowing down to the caress of her lips. He murmurs her name and lets a hand wander up her side in encouragement, more than content to let her take the lead for now. ]

[ Is this cuddling or making out, Noire isn't sure anymore-- she's still in his lap, pressed close, so she's fairly certain that it counts at least slightly. And truthfully, she doesn't mind either way, curling into him and letting her kisses drift down to his neck. ]

[ Surely, they're just master multitaskers. He hums some more and tilts his head, inviting her to go on. Slowly, his fingers travel up to the nape of her neck and play there ponderously.

And seemingly from nowhere: ] Do you remember when we first met?

[ There's a soft hum, before she slowly lifts her head after a final kiss. ]

It's kind of hard to forget. I had a hard time grasping who you were.

And I had a hard time grasping who you weren't! Back then, I never would've guessed that we'd end up like this. No offense.

[ Already missing her contact (as if having her in his lap wasn't enough), he makes a pillow of her over her heart. ]

[ Snugglebug-- well, not that she minds. ]

No, it's all right. I hadn't considered it, either. And it wouldn't have been right back then, either, when we were still trying to understand who we were and weren't.

[ Then he'll just get comfy here, listening to the steady thumping in her chest. It's soothing, and he closes his eyes as his smile turns lopsided. ]

So... when did you start considering it?

... I don't know exactly when... [ she trails off, moving a hand to ease her fingers through his hair. ] I think there was probably something more there when I started-- er, yelling at you. I mean, without the blood and the thunder.

[ If he were a cat, he'd purr... He melts against her under her attention, breathing a sigh of contentment. ]

Ahh. Y'know, I think it was then for me too. I don't suppose I fully understood at the time, but you really hooked me then. You could even say you right hooked me, heh.

I didn't actually mean to hit you...

[ she still sounds guilty, honestly. ]

Never would've guessed. [ He kisses the nearest patch of skin, which happens to be the window... thing... in her shirt. ] You don't feel bad about that, do you?

[ HE REALLY KINDA DESERVED IT... ]

If it got through to you, then no... but I didn't like hurting you, not then, not before.

[ her breath hitches ever so slightly, but it's hard to say whether that's for emotional reasons or Morgan kissing there. ]

[ Well, that's a reaction... and it would be awfully unscientific of him not to pursue it, of course. (Of course.) So he trails a few more delicate kisses there, taking his time. ]

I know. You wouldn't hurt a fly if you could help it. And not just because of the bug phobia.
