I-I understand! I'm not doubting your enthusiasm!

Oh, good. You seemed a little bashful, so I wanted to reassure you.

[ This relationship is a lot of things. Subtle isn't one of them. ]

... I've just never... slept alone with you before... so I'm a little nervous?

Hmm...? If it makes you feel better, you can pretend you're sleeping alone like usual. Only I'm right next to you... and there's a blanket on top of us!

[ ... He is way too chill about this, but she only sighs in response and drops her head on his shoulder. ]

I think it would be impossible to be unaware of you.

Ha ha. I'll take that as a good thing.

[ He feels the same way about her, really, but for some reason voicing it seems a little... well. He stares off into the night... ]

[ That's fine, she's blushing enough as it is. And gradually, she'll venture-- ]

Are you tired?

Huh? No! I mean... maybe a little.

[ Lying down does sound appealing. Setting up camp, even if it's miniature, is involved work. He tilts his head at her. ]

Well, I'm ready to turn in if you are.

[bloodandblunder]

I am... I think it's worth trying, at any rate. [ and she'll even move off of his shoulder! ]

[ ... And now his shoulder is sad and cold. But it's all the more reason to get re-settled quickly, so he crawls over and feeds the fire with enough hunks of furniture to last a while longer. Then he'll gather up his blanket and pillow and wait for Noire to shimmy into the tent first. ]

[bloodandblunder]

[ She's inching in, taking care not to disrupt anything after their valiant efforts. The shoulder-piece she'll take off, along with her other glove and her circlet, before she makes room for him. ]

[memlost]

[ He derobes, deboots, and dearmors, leaving it all in a pile nearby before sliding in beside her. He'll pop his pillow down, carefully lay his blanket over them, and finally lie down with a content sigh. There's something comforting about cloth walls. ]

Comfy?

Yes... [ as she settles down, facing him. ] Will this work for you?

Wonderfully.

[ Though he's on his back, he scoots close and bends toward her like a gentle macaroni. Being horizontal doesn't lessen his desire to snuggle in the least, really. ]

[ The best gentle macaroni, tbh. And here, Morgan, she'll even drape an arm across your chest. ]

I thought it would be more cramped, but... it's working strangely well?

[ ... Careful, Noire, you're making him blush. He takes her fingers in hand, thumbing them absently. ]

The lack of personal boundaries does help.

[ ... Though it also means no escape. He only has to crane his neck so much to give her a little peck on the nose. ]

[ He's been making her blush all evening, fair is fair. And even now, as her eyes lift to meet his-- well. Her fingers curl around his. ]

Being closer to you is never a bad thing, Morgan.

[ Oh no, eye contact... He softens under her gaze, and really he can't help himself now. He tugs her hand past him and rolls onto an elbow so he can give her a proper kiss, soft and lingering. ]

And I can never be too close to you, Noire. Funny that we didn't do this sooner.

[bloodandblunder]

I don't think the building would have let us.

[ And it's been far too long for her, so after a few seconds, she moves in close again to kiss him again. ]

[ That earns her a throaty chuckle, though he's only too happy to oblige. He leaves her hand on his waist, the better to slip his own into her hair and chase the kiss with another.

[ They probably should have brought a chaperone along, since the noise Noire makes is anything but discouraging. It's occurred to her, more than once, that they'll be truly separated one day-- but for now, she'll keep this with her, commit all of this to memory as she meets him kiss for kiss. There may be a note of relief there, something welcoming. He's been missed. ]

[ It's a nice note, one that doesn't go unnoticed; neither does the noise she makes, and he flushes in the dim. But it encourages his hand to roam down her neck and side with a leisure at odds with his racing heart, bordering on shy. Somehow, being in a little space like this compels him to nudge a little closer, feel a little more of her warmth. It's a pressing urge, moving more and more to the forefront of his consciousness.

A chaperone might have been... a really good idea...... ]

[ It's because he's so slow and careful that Noire wonders at it, even as she sinks into the warmth of his hand, wriggles closer, and rests her palm against his chest.

His heart-- ]

... Are you all right?

[ None of that is really helping his situation, Noire... If anything, the rise and fall of his chest becomes more pronounced. He mentally flounders for a second because everything is super okay but also maybe too okay?? It's just a very loaded question at the moment. ]

Um... all right. Perfectly all right. Why wouldn't I be all right?

[ gosh it's not like he's outrageously attracted to her or anything ]
